The fastest way to get LMSA working is to pick your provider, enter your connection details, select a model, and start a conversation. This guide walks you through each step. The whole process takes under five minutes.
If you haven’t installed LMSA yet, download it from Google Play first. Android 6.0 or higher is required. See Install LMSA for details.

Choose your setup path

Use this path if you have LM Studio or Ollama running on your PC or Mac and you want to keep all AI processing on your home network.Before you begin: Your phone and your PC must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Make sure your local server is running and a model is loaded before you open LMSA settings.

Find your PC's local IP address

On your PC, open a terminal and run the appropriate command:
ipconfig
Look for IPv4 Address under your active network adapter. It typically looks like 192.168.x.x.

Note your server port

The default port is 1234 for LM Studio and 11434 for Ollama. Check your server’s dashboard if you’ve changed it.

Open LMSA settings

Launch LMSA on your phone and tap the Settings icon. The connection type defaults to Local Server — no toggle needed unless you previously switched to a cloud provider.

Enter the server IP and port

In settings, fill in your PC’s local IP address and the port number. Tap Save or Connect to confirm.
If the connection fails, check that your firewall allows inbound connections on the server port, and that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network (not one on Wi-Fi and one on Ethernet with isolation enabled).

Select a model

Return to the main screen. Tap the model selector at the top and choose from the models your server reports as available. The list updates automatically when you load or unload models on your PC.

Start chatting

Tap the compose area, type your message, and send. Your request travels over your local network to the model on your PC — no data leaves your home.
