LMSA stores everything — your conversations, custom templates, and system prompts — on your device. The import and export tools let you back up that data, move it between devices, or bring in configurations from external sources like LM Studio. All import and export operations are available from the app’s sidebar menu.
Chat history export and import require LMSA Premium. Tapping the export or import button on a free account opens the Premium upgrade prompt.
Export your chat history regularly if you want a personal backup. Because chats are stored on-device only, uninstalling the app or clearing app data permanently deletes your conversation history.
Export chat history
Exporting saves all your conversations to a file you can store, share, or analyze outside the app.
Open the sidebar
Tap the menu icon (top-left of the chat screen) to open the sidebar.
Tap Export
Select Export from the sidebar menu.
Confirm the export
A confirmation dialog appears. Tap Confirm to proceed. LMSA generates the export file and prompts you to save or share it using Android’s standard file picker or share sheet.
Import chat history
You can restore a previously exported chat history file to bring your conversations back into LMSA.
Open the sidebar
Tap the menu icon to open the sidebar.
Tap Import
Select Import from the sidebar menu.
Select the file
Use the file picker to locate your exported chat history file.
Confirm the import
A confirmation dialog shows the contents of the file. Tap Confirm to merge the imported chats into your current history.
Importing a chat history file merges the imported conversations with your existing chats. This action cannot be undone. If you want to start fresh, clear your current chat history before importing.
Import LM Studio profiles
If you use LM Studio on your PC, you can import its system prompt and configuration profiles into LMSA to keep your setups consistent across devices.
Export the profile from LM Studio
In LM Studio on your PC, export the profile you want to use. This creates a JSON or compatible configuration file.
Transfer the file to your Android device
Copy the exported file to your phone via USB, cloud storage, or any file transfer method you prefer.
Open Settings in LMSA
Tap the gear icon to open Settings.
Import the profile
Navigate to Settings → Import → LM Studio Profile and select the file. LMSA reads the profile and applies the configuration.
Export and import custom templates
Custom system prompt templates you create in LMSA can be exported for backup and imported back when needed.

Go to the Templates screen
Tap Templates from the main screen or sidebar.
Open the export option
Tap the menu or overflow icon and select Export Templates.
Save the file
Choose where to save the exported template file using Android’s file picker.
Go to the Templates screen
Tap Templates from the main screen or sidebar.
Open the import option
Tap the menu or overflow icon and select Import Templates.
Select the file
Choose your previously exported template file. LMSA restores the templates into your custom templates list.
